Chf dynasty conspiracies

The Chf dynasty conspiracies were a pair of assassination attempts on the hra'vakh royal family in the years 24583 and 24611. The mastermind behind both of them was megalomaniacal sociopath Han'afh. The first assassination attempt involved Afh's puppet, the Chf family's adopted son Banakh. The second was a more direct approach, but Afh decided to use his own son Tokh as a hitman and a proxy.

First Attempt

In Shuma 24562, Han'afh served as advisor to chieftain Chf'banakh, shortly after his election in Vi'dan-ri, an agricultural town at the delta of the Rika'dan, some twenty miles west of the palace and Vi'oh. Banakh disregarded Afh's sociopathic tendencies, blinded by his own, and ruined the Vi'dan-ri economy by polluting the river, the soil, and the delta itself with industrial waste. He was quickly ousted and fined the entire cost of the cleanup, some one hundred and sixty million bakh. He showed no remorse for his crimes against nature, and managed to escape prison by going into exile, where he stayed until 24573. During this time, he began to bond with Afh, and they became close friends. They had lots of things in common, from their incestuous relationships (even though Banakh wasn't Chlia's blood relative) to their desire for power. They spent twenty years formulating a plan and amassing the resources to take the throne in 24583.

Afh's plan was simple: he would turn the terrorist group Khafa'un-aka against the diarchs (at the time, the hra'vakh were ruled by the royals on land alone) and brand them traitors. He would then order Chf'alesh, the king at the time, killed so that Banakh, the first male heir, would claim the throne. He would then wipe out any and all dissent, using Banakh as a proxy, and arrange Banakh's death and his own ascent to the throne. His plan backfired when the remaining two members of the royal family, Chf'drak and his older sister Aza, proved harder to kill than he'd anticipated. Drak, Aza, and Ra'liasi managed to thwart Banakh's efforts to capture them, and Liasi shot the king in self-defense. Drak ascended the throne and threatened to imprison Afh, who staged his own death and fled with his wife and newborn son to a secluded, abandoned monastery in the mountains south of Vi'akh.

Second Attempt

Afh stayed at this monastery for the next twenty-eight years planning the second assassination attempt. From an early age, he trained his son Tokh to be a ruthless fighter and a talented assassin. He gathered information on the royal family, which by this time had expanded by two members. Liasi was now queen on land, serving alongside king Drak. Aza was queen undersea, and her daughter Sakara was the princess. Drak, Aza, and Liasi formed the triarchy and laid the foundation for the tetrarchy years later when Sakara ascended the throne.

In Shuma 24611, Ipf'akh Lesa'nia called a summit between herself and the triarchs to discuss the current state of the nations and to look for any ways the government could improve. Afh seized the opportunity to strike. Tokh was to gain the family's trust by getting close to emotionally unstable princess Sakara. From that position, he would draw much less suspicion from any investigations into the royals' murders. Tokh took things one step further by planning to ensure the assassinations would look like accidents.

The first targets were Drak and Aza. They would be together in a plane flying back from Vi'akh--a plane that Tokh rigged with an EMP bomb. The bomb went off, just as planned, and the plane crashed thirty miles east of Vi'oh. Drak and Aza survived and took refuge in a nearby cave system, where they hid for days. When their bodies were not found among the wreckage, Tokh gathered evidence to find where they were hiding, and decided to take them out once and for all. As a rescue crew was prepared to climb into the cave where Drak and Aza were purported to be hiding, he flew past in his father's stealth aircraft and launched a cruise missile into the mouth of the cave.

By this time, Drak and Aza had already fled to the Ores clan, of which they were honorary members. Both of them had Ores ancestry, but since they were not born into the clan, they were still considered outsiders by most. Ores'ulan, the clan chief, sheltered them there for another week while Aza's injuries finished healing. Tokh never did find them again, even though he knew they were alive.

When he failed to kill Drak and Aza, he turned his sights on Liasi. He tried to kill her through lethal injection, using his crony Pan as a hitman, but that failed. For a while, he couldn't get to her

With all his plans failing, he had no choice but to go after his final target, Sakara. His goal was to seduce her, have sex with her, and then smother her in her sleep. She wouldn't give herself up at first, but he finally talked her into it. Liasi interrupted before things got out of hand, and Tokh shot Liasi right in front of Sakara. At this point, all hope for getting her to bed willingly was gone, so he knocked her unconscious and tried to rape her. She barely escaped.

Liasi survived the encounter, as did her unborn child. Tokh went after her a second time by staging an assault on the palace, using the remnants of Khafa'un-aka as his army. The assault was unsuccessful, and Tokh fled again. This time, Raf'danh, his sister Tala, and the Shadow Guard pursued, with Sakara tagging along in disguise. She confronted Tokh and shot him, but the captain of the Guard subdued her before she could kill him.

Upon hearing of Tokh's capture, Drak and Aza came out of hiding. With no resources and no hope of success, he committed suicide.
