Template:Infobox Organization

Terra is a conglomeration of Human planets and colonies with Earth as its capital city. Additionally, it includes several moons, space stations, and asteroid colonies. Primary worlds—those with Earthlike climates—are given "Terra" designations for official purposes. However, they usually retain the names given them by discoverers, except when named after the star they orbit (Terra Alter, for example).

Simple Races

  • Kuti (allied, but they remain a sovereign nation, as do the Mikametes, the human and hra'vakh residents of Terra Alter)
  • Dracons (joined Terra in 2133 when Barnard's Star grew too dim for it to sustain them)
  • Chellor (joined Terra in 2120 after the Plantville Revolution)

Enemies

The two principal enemy races, the Xarisans and Valishans, allied with Terra by the start of the Eregosian War in 2112, leaving Terra at odds with only one of the three other known empires. But Terra's enemies still included the immensely powerful Eregosian Empire, the Chellor of Plantville and the Dracons of Kellenes. Two of those races would later join Terra.

Wars

By 2150, Terra had been involved in two major combat wars, as well as one cold war.

  1. The Second Cold War was between Terra and the crumbling Valishan Empire. Once the pinnacle of civilization, the Valishans were still proud, though their allies had all become extinct or deserted them after the star Valish went supernova. Still extremely powerful, the Valishan High Chancellor warned Earth time and time again that they would conquer humanity. The humans threatened the Valishans with a Corbomite Device of sorts, a plethora of different energy weapons both extant and imaginary. Energy weapons are the only known way to kill a Valishan, except for a prototype dark matter weapon, which is theoretically much more effective. The war of words waged back and forth until the High Chancellor's sudden death in 2101. Shyra, his daughter, assumed command, ending the war after nearly seventy years, and relocated the entire population from their home planet around pulsar Valish to Mikamiti, where they became refugees until a new homeworld could be found. In 2113, the Valishans formally joined Terra.
  1. The Xarisan War began in 2076, after a primarily human exploration party landed on a station above the gas giant Xaris, a unique planet whose upper atmosphere is composed of breathable oxygen and nitrogen. Preaching a love for peace and welcoming the travelers, the avian Xarisans then double-crossed the Terran explorers, taking the humans as slaves and killing the hra'vakh hybrids among the group. One of the slaves escaped and sent word to Earth, who then mounted a retaliatory strike against the Xarisan Empire, which was and still is the largest and most powerful of the known Milky Way empires. This war lasted 30 years and cost 750,000 human and 15,000 hra'vakh and hra'vakh hybrid lives. Hra's official stance was one of neutrality, but they didn't prohibit their people from fighting.
  1. The Eregosian War was a comparatively short and sporadic, yet bloody conflict between the allied Terran and Valishan empires, as well as the Hra'vakh, and the powerful, militaristic Eregosian Empire, the second-largest empire in the known Milky Way. It began with the Battle of Europa in 2112, where half the combined Allied fleet was wiped out as well as three fourths of the Eregosian fleet. The destructive force was the Eregosian flagship's explosion, which is estimated to have been a three gigaton explosion. Years passed before the Eregosians retaliated by attacking Earth, but by then Terra was ready for the conflict. With the help of the Xarisans, Valishans and Hra'vakh, the Eregosians suffered yet another defeat and conceded to Terra. They acknowledged that Terra was now a superior empire, especially when fighting alongside the Xarisans, who soundly beat the Eregosians once before in the year 203 AD (Earth reckoning).
