Terra Aliis is the fourth planet orbiting Alpha Centauri A, and the system's only planet in the Goldilocks Zone. It is, on paper, a Terran world, but only because of the human population. As of 2050, the only Human settlement is New Washington, a sovereign nation on a world controlled by the Kuti.

The colony ship Halcyon landed on Terra Alter on 28 March, 2042, over two months behind schedule. For the first month, while shelters were being set up, the passengers and crew lived aboard ship, but finally, the town of New Washington was set up.
